The maple leaf of Canada was flying high last Sunday when Canadian Jason Moledzki won the Canopy Piloting (parachuting/skydiving) World Cup at Picton.
Australian team member Michael Vaughan, from Wilton, was the best placed Australian in eighth position overall.
Moledzki won both the speed and distance events to secure his first placing.
Jonathan Tagle, from the US, was runner-up with countryman Ian Bobo in third.
Vaughan said the Australian team members recorded their best ever results in this year's world cup.
"We had six Aussies in the top 20 compared with three in last year's event at Vienna," Vaughan said.
"We were stoked."
Hundreds of spectators descended on the venue to witness the four-day event although the first two days were mostly lost to rain.
"It actually worked out pretty good as Saturday was perfect weather," Vaughan told the Wollondilly Advertiser.
"Lots of spectators were sitting by the pond cheering competitors as they came through.
"It was really fantastic and it was a spectacular day.
"Considering the distance people had to travel, it was great to have so many taking part in the event."
