Jay Moledzki overtook a field of 26 competitors to win the PD/Fastrax Challenge in Sebastian Beach, FL on January 5th and 6th. The PD/Fastrax Challenge was part of the Cross Keys Invasion organized annually by Kimberley Worthington.
Members of the PD Factory Team arrived a few days early to conduct a three-day Flight-1 Skills Camp. Jimmy Tranter of Skydive DeLand and Skydive Cross Keys was also on hand to help with the Essentials Skills Course on January 1st. Over 50 students participated in the educational event.
"The [Flight-1] camp was really good. I got to learn some stuff about how to add some extra power to what I'm doing." - Dale Mclemoore
"It was a lot of fun. It was really educational. I'm getting more and more excited about flying my canopy after attending the Essential Skills camp." - Jennifer Kong
After a round and a half of Distance swoops, high winds brought the competition to a halt on day one. Meet director, Anne Maxwell, gave the word to resume the competition at 7:00am the next morning. With sunny blue skies above, competitors laid down some spectacular swoops for the crowd that gathered at the Sebastian Beach Inn.

After taking the lead in round two, victorious Moledzki never looked back as the rest of the pack tried to close the gap. In a dramatic last round of speed, Marat Leiras moved into second place overall. Shannon Pilcher placed third, Ian Bobo finished in fourth, and John Zuliani and Jonathan Tagle took 5th and 6th, respectively.
Congratulations to all the competitors. Thanks to the sponsors: Monster Energy Drink, Getsum LLC (Chris Hayes, Kim Worthington, Anne Maxwell and Emma Tranter), Performance Designs, Fastrax, Ouragan Suits, United Parachute Technologies, The Mamba Spirit, Skydive Sebastian, John Eddowes of Skydive Cross Keys, Zoo Bar, Sky Systems, and the Sebastian Beach Inn. And a special thanks to Karine Leblond and all the course directors, judges, and competition staff.
