PD Factory Team X-Project: FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Must I be a U.S. citizen/resident to join the PD Factory Team, or must I live in the United States?

No, neither. In fact, we encourage anyone interested to apply. Although, new team members will be expected to spend considerable time within the United States for various PDFT activities and events.

If I am being asked to commit two years and approximately 10 days per month to this team, how am I expected to subsidize my living expenses?

First of all, 10 days per month is an approximate average. Some months may require three weeks of your time, while other months may require none of your time. It’s important to remember, we’ve been where you are, and we know that you must earn to survive. While we cannot guarantee you a steady paycheck, we are excited and optimistic about the work opportunities that exist for this team. Having new team members allows us to take on more work, which allows everyone to earn more.

Would I have to quit my job to be accepted to the team?

Not necessarily. But maintaining a full-time 9-to-5 job might prove to be difficult, if not impossible. Having a flexible job, especially one where you can telecommute, or work your own hours, will be advantageous. Ultimately, we are hoping that this team, and opportunities that it represents, will provide you with ample earning opportunity to live comfortably.

If I do not live in the United States, will I be expected to travel to the U.S. for all CPC competitions?

Not necessarily. But you will be expected to compete in as many competitions in your area as possible.

If I do not live in the United States, will I be expected to compete in the U.S. Nationals?

Not necessarily. But you will be expected to compete in your country’s nationals, or the highest profile CP event in your area.

How might I be “utilized” at PDFT events such as exhibitions, expeditions and/or educational camps?

We are always in need of additional man-power, from ground-crew to administrative assistance to outside video flyers to coaches. In all cases, we need people we can trust, who share the same vision and mission.

What does “parallel training and coaching by the PDFT” mean, exactly?

It means we are teammates, and we share everything, including the tricks and techniques that have allowed us to succeed. It means we are equally motivated to see you progress as we are to see ourselves progress. As a new member of this team, you are likely to become the future champions of this sport, on and off the playing field. Our mission and desire is to help you do just that.

What is a Flight-1 educational camp?

Flight-1 is the corporate name of the PD Factory Team. It is through the Flight-1identity that the PDFT operates its educational services. There is currently a high demand for our educational services in both the civilian and military parachuting markets. All new team members will be trained to become Flight-1 instructors, and will be expected to “coach” at a minimum of three camps per year (although it is likely that there will be more than three such opportunities).

What is the “team retreat”?

That information is highly classified. No, seriously, it is where all the magic happens, and you will be a part of it.

Besides PD canopies, what other types of equipment does the PDFT use?

We proudly fly with the Sun Path Javelin Odyssey containers, Airtec Cypres AAD, Gatorz Eyewear and Alti-2 Neptune altimeters.
